A warranty says more than a thousand words
We make premium products, using only high-quality components. But you don’t know that. And why would you take our word for it. That’s why we find it so important to translate that promise to an extended warranty of 5 (or even 7) years on all our products. We can offer this warranty with confidence, because our fixtures have a lifecycle of at least 50.000 hours, and in special cases going up 80.000 hours. That has everything to do with the cooling elements we talked about in our previous blog.
We’ll repeat the warning from that article: temperature is the biggest enemy of all electronics. If your fixture gets too hot, the materials and electronic components inside will suffer from it. That’s why a good product uses a large enough cooling element made from the proper materials, to ensure that the temperature never gets that high. Because we design and test our own fixtures, we have the final say over which cooling element to use. And we decided to use a big one made from aluminum. You can see it in the picture below. It’s large, there’s no way around it. But there’s a good reason for that.
Stay cool and live longer
The larger and better the component, the cooler the temperature. Heat reduction directly translates to a longer lifecycle. That’s why we feel confident enough to offer a 5 to 7 year warranty. The actual lifecycle is probably much longer than that, unless your lighting is turned on 24/7.
To determine how long our lighting will last in your particular situation, you need to do some calculations. The starting point is that our products have a minimum lifecycle of 50.000 hours, and we even offer extra long-lasting fixtures with a lifecycle of 80.000 hours. If you take the 50.000 hours, with the lights turned on 7 days a week for 24 hours a day, our fixtures will last 6 years. But that lifecycle becomes much longer for other applications, let’s say an office building. With 5 days a week and 10 hours a day, our products can last up to 20 years.
TM-21 and LM-80
We did our own math on that, but it’s actually based on official testing protocols (TM-21 and LM-80 if you want to look it up). These tests make sure that LED-lights perform as promised over a long period of time, 6.000 hours to be precise. That’s enough time to conclude that they function properly and constantly. How this translates to the full product lifecycle depends heavily on the temperature of the LED-light when in use. You can see why the cooling element is of vital importance. Because we put so much emphasis on integrating a large and high-quality cooling element, our LED-lighting remains cooler than most and in turn lasts much longer.
